India's First Hydrogen Train Test Run Successful
- Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the 'oscillation' trial run of the country's first Hydrogen Trainset has been successfully completed.
- India's first hydrogen train is set to operate between Jind and Sonipat in the state of Haryana. This state-of-the-art train was manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur, Chennai. It is expected to play a pivotal role in making the country's rail transportation more eco-friendly.
- Once hydrogen trains enter commercial service, India will officially join the ranks of the few nations globally such as Germany, Sweden, Japan, and China that operate hydrogen-powered trains.
- This trial was conducted by the Railways' Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) as part of its evaluation process.
- In the general elections held in Nepal following the youth-led uprising last September, Balendra Shah's Rashtriya Swatantra Party achieved a resounding victory. Today, Balendra Shah (35) assumed office as the country's 47th Prime Minister.
- With this, he has set a record in Nepal's history as the youngest individual ever to occupy the Prime Minister's chair. During a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Kathmandu, President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Balendra Shah.
