Cabinet meeting chaired by CM 2026 - Approval for new industrial investments
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin chaired a cabinet meeting at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat. In this meeting, approval has been given for new industrial investments. Accordingly, approval has been given to provide incentives to 46 projects to be newly established and expanded in Tamil Nadu.
- It has been reported that an investment of Rs. 31,592.39 crore has been promised through these projects and employment will be created for 61,521 people. In addition, the summer special amount for women receiving women's rights payment. Rs. 5000 has also been approved.
- A similar resolution was unanimously passed in the Kerala Legislative Assembly in August 2023. The Union Home Ministry, after examining the resolution, recommended some technical changes in it.

- The Union Cabinet today deliberated on this resolution. The Union Cabinet met for the first time at the recently inaugurated new Prime Minister's Office building, Seva Theertham, and discussed the matter. In the end, the Union Cabinet has approved the change of name of the state from Kerala to Kerala.
- After the approval of the Union Cabinet, the President will send the Kerala (Change of Name) Bill, 2026, for the approval of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. After the approval of the Kerala State Legislative Assembly, the name change bill will be introduced in Parliament.
- After the bill is passed in Parliament, it will be sent for the President's assent. After the President's assent, the name change will come into effect. With the Assembly elections in Kerala due soon, the change of name of the state is seen as a major event.
- The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved 3 projects worth Rs 9,072 crore on behalf of the Ministry of Railways.
- These include Gondia-Jabalpur double-lane railway, Punarak-Keul line 3rd and 4th lines, and Kamhariya-Shandil line 3rd and 4th lines. These 3 projects will cover 8 districts in the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. This will increase the railway network by about 307 km.
- This will improve transport facilities in 5407 villages with a population of about 98 lakh. These projects will also improve rail connectivity to various tourist destinations including Kachnar Shiva Temple (Jabalpur, Kanha National Park (Balaghat), Gangulpara Dam and Waterfalls, Bench National Park, Dhuwandar Falls, Bargi Dam, Gomji-Shomji Temple, Chandil Dam.
- The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the extension of the 3.3 km line from GIFT City to Shahpur in Gujarat. The project will be completed in about 4 years. 3 high-level stations will also be set up on this line.
- The project is estimated to cost Rs. 1067.35 crore. The extended line will carry 23,702 passengers in 2029 and about 1,000 passengers in 2041. 58,059 passengers are expected to benefit.
- The route will strengthen the connectivity of the region between Ahmedabad and GIFT. Multinational companies, educational institutions and commercial centres located along the proposed route will be directly benefited.
- The route is expected to generate employment for about 1,000 people during the construction period and about 250 during the post-construction operation and maintenance period.
- The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the Minimum Support Price for Raw Jute for the 2026-27 marketing season.
- The Minimum Support Price for Raw Jute (DD-3 category) for the 2026-27 marketing season has been fixed at Rs. 5,925 per quintal. This price is in line with the principle that the Minimum Support Price should be at least one and a half times the cost of production. It has been done.
- The current price has been increased by Rs. 275 per quintal compared to the 2025-26 marketing season.
