Prime Minister Modi inaugurates the country's first high-speed Namo Bharat train service
- The central government is taking various initiatives to modernize and speed up rail transport in India. In 2024, Prime Minister Modi launched the Namo Bharat Express train service between Ahmedabad-Bhuj in Gujarat.
- As the next phase, Prime Minister Modi flagged off the country's first regional high-speed transport system, the Namo Bharat Metro, which will connect a distance of 82 kilometers from Delhi to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
- This high-speed train service can reach Modipuram railway station in Meerut, about 82 kilometers away, in 55 minutes.
- This means that the Namo Bharat Express train can travel at a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour. Currently, the Namo Bharat train is being operated at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour in the first phase.
