Unemployment rate in the country decreases in the October-December quarter of 2025
- The National Statistics Office released data collected through the Quarterly Labour Force Survey. The employment rate for people aged 15 and above in urban areas decreased to 6.9 percent in the October-December quarter of 2025.
- In rural areas, the unemployment rate for people aged 15 and above decreased to 4 percent in the October-December quarter. It was 4.4 percent in the same period of the previous year. With this, the unemployment rate in both urban and rural areas has decreased.
- The rate of self-employment in urban areas increased to 63.2 percent in the October-December quarter of 2025. It was 62.8 percent last year. Similarly, the rate of self-employment in rural areas is 39.7 percent. It was 39.3 percent in the July-September quarter, the report said.
