Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme implemented - Announcement by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin
- Fulfilling the 20-year-long demand of Tamil Nadu government employees and teachers, Chief Minister Stalin has issued an order to implement the 'Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TAPS)', a new scheme that also provides the benefits of the old pension scheme. This has been widely welcomed by government employees and teachers.
- The new scheme will be implemented to fulfill the 20-year demand of government employees and teachers. Pension will be provided even after 10 years of service. The announcement also states that 50 percent of the last drawn salary will be given as pension.
- In a unique scheme not found anywhere else in the country, government employees are provided with a life insurance amount of Rs. 1 crore in case of accidental death and Rs. 10 lakhs in case of natural death.
- For the children of government employees who die in service, financial assistance ranging from Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs is provided for marriage expenses, and further, financial assistance up to Rs. 10 lakhs is provided through banks for higher education.
- The educational advance for the children of government employees has been increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh for professional courses and from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000 for arts and science courses.
- The marriage advance provided to government employees has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 5 lakhs. More than in any other state, the housing loan advance for government employees and teachers working in Tamil Nadu has been increased from Rs. 40 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakhs.
- An order has been issued to allow government employees to retire, eliminating the situation where they are temporarily suspended from service on the day of retirement due to disciplinary actions. It has been provided.
- The pension gratuity has been increased from Rs. 20 lakhs to Rs. 25 lakhs. Medical insurance assistance for pensioners has been increased to Rs. 10 lakhs. Furthermore, their Pongal gift amount has been increased from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000.
- Accepting the long-standing demand of women government employees, maternity leave has been increased from 9 months to 12 months.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated a grand international exhibition of sacred Piprahwa relics associated with Lord Buddha, titled "Light and Lotus, Relics of the Awakened One," at the Rai Pithora Cultural Complex in New Delhi.
- Addressing the event, the Prime Minister noted that after a wait of one hundred and twenty-five years, India's heritage has returned, India's legacy has come back.
