Pre-Budget Consultation Meeting with States and Union Territories chaired by Union Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman
- Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, chaired a pre-budget consultation meeting with States and Union Territories in New Delhi.
- The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Finance, Shri Pankaj Chaudhary; the Governor of Manipur; the Chief Ministers of Goa, Haryana, Meghalaya, Sikkim, the Union Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir; the Deputy Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana; and Finance Ministers representing various States and Union Territories.
- The participants put forward several significant suggestions to the Union Finance Minister for consideration in the Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27. In particular, many emphasized that the Special Assistance Scheme for Capital Investment (SASCI) should be continued with higher allocations.
- It is noteworthy that since 2020-21, the Central Government has released over Rs. 4.25 lakh crore to the States as 50-year interest-free loans under the Special Assistance Scheme for Capital Investment.
