Next-Generation Akash Missile Test Successful
- In a significant milestone for India's defense sector, the user evaluation trials (UET) of the next-generation Akash (Akash-NG) missile have been successfully completed.
- This missile is capable of intercepting and destroying various types of aerial threats with high precision. During the trials, the missile successfully engaged and destroyed targets ranging from low-altitude targets to high-altitude, long-range targets.
- It utilizes an indigenously developed Radio Frequency Seeker, a dual-pulse solid rocket motor, and radar systems. All components of this missile system have been designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) with the assistance of Indian industries.
- In a league match against Arunachal Pradesh today in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Bihar team set a world record by scoring 574 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.
- With this, the Bihar team has set the record for the highest score by a team in List A cricket worldwide.
- Previously, in 2022, the Tamil Nadu team had scored 506 runs for the loss of two wickets in 50 overs against the same Arunachal Pradesh team. The Bihar team has broken this record after three years.
- Bihar's 14-year-old player Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 190 runs off 84 balls, narrowly missing a double century. Similarly, Ayush scored 116 runs off 56 balls. Sakibul Gani set a record by scoring a century in 32 balls.
- The Bahubali rocket was launched into space from the second launch pad in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. It is said that this satellite will help provide mobile connectivity and high-speed 5G internet service to remote areas. This will be the heaviest satellite among the satellites sent by ISRO.
- The US-based AST SpaceMobile company has designed this satellite as part of its project to provide 4G and 5G internet services via satellite. The weight of this satellite is approximately 6,100 kg. Its value is reported to be around 560 crore rupees in Indian currency.
- The Union Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved three new corridors as part of the 16.076 km long Phase V (A) project of the Delhi Metro.
- They are: 1. RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha (9.913 km), 2. Aerocity to Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal-1 (2.263 km), and 3. Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj (3.9 km).
- This project will further improve connectivity within the national capital. The total project cost of Phase V (A) of the Delhi Metro is Rs. 12014.91 crore.
- The funding for this will be obtained from the Central Government, the Delhi Government, and international financial institutions.
- This corridor will provide connectivity to all government offices, thereby providing transportation facilities to office employees and visitors in the area right at their office doorstep.
- This link will benefit approximately 60,000 office workers and 200,000 office visitors daily. These corridors will further reduce pollution and the use of fossil fuels, promoting a more livable environment.
- Today, the Delhi Metro serves an average of 6.5 million passengers daily. The highest number of passengers recorded so far was 8.187 million on August 8, 2025. Excelling in the key parameters of punctuality, reliability, and safety, the Delhi Metro has become the lifeline of the city.
- Currently, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation operates a total of 12 metro lines spanning approximately 395 km and 289 stations in Delhi and the National Capital Region. Today, the Delhi Metro boasts the largest metro network in India and is one of the largest metros in the world.
