- In an article published by the World Bank, it stated: “Three years ago, Chennai's commuters were shunning public buses. At that time, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) was struggling with challenges such as low passenger numbers, a small bus fleet, and a lack of public trust.
- Today, Chennai has completely transformed this situation and achieved a remarkable feat. It has won India's highest urban transport award, the “City with the Best Public Transport System,” from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This is a recognition that Chennai can be proud of.”
