Inflation-based Annual Wholesale Price Index
- The inflation-based annual wholesale price index has increased. This index, calculated based on the 2011-2012 base year in the last month (November 2025), indicates that the inflation rate is negative.
- The increase in this wholesale price index is attributed to the decrease in prices of food products, mineral oils, crude petroleum and natural gas, basic metal manufacturing, and electricity. Over the past 3 months, the wholesale price index for primary articles and the annual inflation rate have been consistently rising.
- Similarly, the indices for fuel and electricity have also been gradually increasing. However, the wholesale price index for manufactured products has decreased slightly. Nevertheless, the wholesale price index for food products has continued to increase.
- Overall, it is 0.71 percent higher compared to the previous month (October 2025). It is noteworthy that the wholesale price index has increased due to the low volatility in the annual inflation rate.
Rajkumar Goyal appointed as Chief Information Commissioner
- Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Rajkumar Goyal today (December 15, 2025) took oath as the new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of India.
- A three-member committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recommended his name for the post of Chief Information Commissioner last week, and today, at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to him.
- Rajkumar Goyal is a retired IAS officer of the 1990 batch. He belongs to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. He retired from the post of Secretary, Department of Justice, under the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, on August 31, 2025.
