Jio Hotstar signs Rs 4,000 crore investment deal with Tamil Nadu government
- JioHotstar has announced an investment of Rs 4,000 crore in the next five years to grow the South Indian media and entertainment sector A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Tamil Nadu government in this regard.
- The grand event held in Chennai was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Member of Parliament actor Kamal Haasan, Tamil Nadu Information Minister M. P. Saminathan, actors Mohanlal, Nagarjuna, Vijay Sethupathi, and many other celebrities from the South Indian film industry.
- The agreement was signed under the leadership of Sushant Sriram, SVOD and Chief Marketing Officer of JiohotStar, and Krishnan Kutty, Head of South Entertainment Cluster, JiohotStar.
- The partnership is seen as a major initiative to expand the creative and production ecosystem of Tamil Nadu and take South Indian creators to the global stage.
- The 20th session of UNESCO’s Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) is underway in India. The session, which began on December 8 at the Red Fort in New Delhi, will continue till December 13.
- The session is being chaired by Indian Ambassador to UNESCO Vishal V. Sharma. In this situation, Diwali, one of the major festivals in India, has been included in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
- Earlier, 15 Indian traditions including Kolkata’s Durga Puja, Ramlila, and Kumbh Mela were included in this list, and now Diwali has been included in this list as the 16th.
- India and Argentina clashed in Chennai in the bronze medal match of the FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup. Argentina led 2-0 in the 3rd and 44th minutes of the match.
