Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail to form new curriculum in school education in Tamil Nadu

• The School Education Department has announced that the curriculum from class one to class eight will be revised in line with the state education policy. It has been reported that a subject-wise expert committee will be formed to revise the curricula and the revised new curricula will come into effect in 2027-2028. 
• A committee has been formed under the leadership of Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail to formulate the curriculum and curriculum design in school education in Tamil Nadu. According to reports, the curricula from classes 9 to 12 will be revised in the second phase.

A new movement called One Northeast to unite the northeastern states

• This movement has been formed with the aim of uniting various voices from the northeastern regions of the country under a common political system. This movement was coordinated and launched at the initiative of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangha. 
• The movement aims to take the integrated vision, development needs and cultural identity of the North Eastern states to the national level. As a first step, the leaders have constituted a nine-member special committee to chart the future course of the group within the next 45 days.
• The committee will deliberate on the structure, operational framework and modalities of the proposed movement and its political stance. In particular, the committee will deliberate and decide whether the One North East will work in conjunction with the North Eastern Democratic Alliance or whether it will opt for an independent path.

Indian Navy to launch ‘Ikshak’ project, introducing a new curriculum in inland water resources expertise

• The Indian Navy is all set to enhance its water resources research capabilities by inducting Ikshak, its third in the Research Vessel (Large) category. It is the first ship to be based in the Southern Naval Command. 
• The ship will be formally commissioned in the presence of Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff, at a ceremony to be held at the Naval Base in Kochi on 06 November 2025. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, Kolkata, IKSHAK stands as a shining example of India’s growing self-reliance in shipbuilding. 
• The ship has over 80% indigenous content. It reflects the success of the Atman Bharat initiative and the collaborative efforts between GRSE and Indian MSMEs. The name ‘IKSHAK’, which means ‘guide’ in Sanskrit, aptly describes the ship’s role as a watchman for precision and purpose. 
• The ship is designed to undertake full-scale coastal and deep-sea hydrological surveys of ports and navigation channels. The data generated through this will be crucial in ensuring safe navigation at sea and strengthening India’s maritime security architecture.
