India advances to 9th position globally in forest area
- According to the Global Forest Resources Assessment 2025 released by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Bali, India has achieved a significant milestone in global environmental protection. It has advanced to 9th position globally in terms of total forest area.
- The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, announced this development in a social media post. In the previous assessment, India was ranked 10th. India has now ranked 3rd globally in terms of annual forest area gain.
- Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri participated in the Japan-India Naval Exercise 2025. The exercise was held from 16 to 18 October 2025.
- During the port phase, the Indian Navy visited the port of Yokosuka in Japan. Before leaving for Yokosuka port, INS Sahyadri, Japanese Coast Guard ships Asahi and Oomi and submarine Jinryu were engaged in naval exercises.
- Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh conferred honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in Territorial Army on star javelin thrower and two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra at a function held in New Delhi today.
- Interacting with Lt Col Neeraj Chopra and his family, the Minister said that Neeraj Chopra epitomises perseverance, patriotism and the Indian spirit of striving for excellence.
