Fifth Review Meeting of the State-Level Development, Coordination and Monitoring Committee

• The fifth review meeting of the State-Level Development, Coordination and Monitoring Committee was held at the Chennai Secretariat on Friday (September 19) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
• Our main objective is to transform Tamil Nadu into a state full of malnourished children. Under the grand scheme "Ensure Nutrition", 77.3 percent of the 1,07,006 malnourished children have returned to normal in the first phase.
• Following the successful implementation of this scheme, the second phase was launched in Ariyalur district on 15.11.2024 and 76,705 severely and moderately malnourished children aged 0-6 months were provided with nutrition boxes and 80.6 percent of the children have returned to normal.

Retail inflation for agricultural and rural workers rises to 1.07% in August

• The Ministry of Labour has said that retail inflation for agricultural and rural workers has increased to 1.07% and 1.26% in August from 0.77% and 1.01% in July, respectively. 
• The All India Consumer Price Index for agricultural workers increased by 1.03 points in August 2025 to 136.34, The index for rural workers increased by 0.94 points to 136.60.
• The food index for agricultural workers increased by 1.39 points and for rural workers by 1.29 points in August 2025. The year-on-year inflation rate for agricultural workers and rural workers in August 2025 was 1.07 to 1.26 percent, respectively. Food inflation in August 2025 was (-) 0.55 percent and (-) 0.28 percent for rural workers.
