Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development works worth Rs 6,500 crore in Assam's Darrang, laid foundation stone for new projects
  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today inaugurated development works worth around Rs 6,500 crore in Assam's Darrang. He also laid the foundation stone for new projects. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Darrang and all the citizens of Assam on this historic day in Assam's development journey.
  • Stressing on the collective responsibility to preserve Assam's rich heritage and accelerate its development, the Prime Minister said that concerted efforts are necessary to achieve this. He concluded his address by saying that Assam will transform the North-East into the driving force of a developed India.
  • Assam Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
India supports UN resolution on Palestine as a separate state
  • India supported the 'New York Statement' resolution at the UN General Assembly, which calls for a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and a two-state solution.
  • The resolution, proposed by France, was passed with 142 votes in favor. 10 countries, including the United States, Israel, Argentina and Hungary, opposed it, and 12 countries abstained.
  • The resolution was introduced at a conference jointly organized by France and Saudi Arabia at the UN headquarters in July.
World Boxing Championship 2025 - India's Jasmine Lamboria wins gold
  • The series is being held in Liverpool, England. In the women's 57 kg category final, Jasmine defeated Poland's Julia Szaremmetta, who won silver at the Paris Olympics.
  • Jasmine won the final match on Saturday night by a score of 4-1. By winning this, she became the 9th woman boxer to win the World Boxing Championship title.
  • It is noteworthy that Mary Kom, Nikhat Zareen, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, Lekha, Neetu, Lovlina, and Saviti have previously won the world championship title.
