Cabinet approves 4-laning of Mogama-Mungkar section of Buxar-Bakalpur Expressway in Bihar
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the 4-laning of Mogama-Mungkar section of Buxar-Bakalpur Expressway in Bihar.
  • The project is to be implemented at an investment cost of Rs. 4,447.38 crore over a length of 82.400 km. The section passes through or provides connectivity to important regional cities like Mogama, Parahia, Lakhisarai, Jamalpur, Munkar, which connect Bhagalpur.
  • The four-laning will reduce travel time by about one and a half hours. At the same time, it will provide safe, fast and uninterrupted movement of both passenger and goods vehicles.
  • The 82.40 km long project will generate about 14.83 lakh man-days of direct employment and 18.46 lakh man-days of indirect employment. Additional employment opportunities will also be generated as economic activities increase along the route.
Union Cabinet approves conversion of Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat single track railway line in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal into double track
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the conversion of Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat single track railway line (177 km) in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal into double track at a cost of Rs. 3,169 crore.
  • The upgraded route will improve the mobility of Indian Railways. It will provide improved efficiency, service and reliability. The multi-track project will ease operations and reduce passenger congestion.
  • The project covers five districts of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. It will provide rail connectivity to key areas like Deogarh (Baba Baityanath Temple), Tarapith (Shakti Peetham). It will improve connectivity to about 441 villages with a population of about 28.72 lakh in three pilot districts (Banga, Koda, Dumka).
