Chief Minister launches 'Nalam Kaakum Stalin' scheme
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the 'Nalam Kaakum Stalin' scheme, which will provide high-quality medical tests to the public across Tamil Nadu on Friday. The Chief Minister, who launched the scheme at St. Pete's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Santhome, Chennai, addressed the people who had come for the tests.
- Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Public Welfare and Medical Minister M. Subramanian and others also attended the event. 'Nalam Kaakum Stalin' medical camps are being held at a total of 1,256 places across Tamil Nadu, including 15 zones in Chennai.
- State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment has been installed at the camp site. The tests are conducted and the results will be communicated via WhatsApp by the evening. Medical services will be provided to those who need treatment.
- The facility has also been made available to check the health details of those who register at the camp, even if they go to any other hospital in Tamil Nadu in the future. Food awareness advice will be provided to prevent diseases. Specialist medical experts and 5 types of Indian medical system experts will be present in the camps.
- Since other departments are also participating in this camp, additional facilities such as medical insurance facilities and issuance of identity cards to the differently-abled have also been arranged in the camp.
- At the Chennai Secretariat, the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills held in Delhi on the 3rd, awards were given to 5 cooperative sugar mills in Tamil Nadu.
- Minister Rajendran, who met Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, presented the awards and congratulated him. He also presented cheques for Rs. 22.60 crore as profit sharing dividend in Kallakurichi - 2 and Aroor, Subramania Siva Cooperative Sugar Mills.
- This government is implementing various schemes for the welfare of sugarcane farmers and the development of sugar mills. There are a total of 40 sugar mills in Tamil Nadu, including 16 cooperatives, 2 public sector and 22 private.
- The sugar mills are recovering from their weak state as the government is taking various constructive steps to increase the area under sugarcane cultivation and improve the efficiency of sugar mills in the interest of sugarcane farmers.
- In July, Rs. 1,95,735 crore was collected through GST. This is 7.5 percent more than the amount collected in July last year. The collection last month was Rs. 1.84 lakh crore.
- With this, the GST collection has crossed Rs. 1.8 lakh crore for 7 consecutive months. Gross domestic revenue has increased by 6.7 percent to Rs. 1.43 lakh crore and import duty has increased by 9.5 percent to Rs. 52,712 crore.
- GST refunds increased by 66.8 percent year-on-year to Rs 27,147 crore. Net GST revenue in July 2025 was Rs 1.69 lakh crore. This is a year-on-year growth of 1.7 percent.
- The PMI, an index of manufacturing activity, was 57.7 in July. However, the PMI, which increased to 58.6 in August, fell again to 57.5 in September.
- It fell further to 55.5 in October. This is the lowest PMI number in the last 8 months. The PMI, which had been experiencing a continuous decline, increased to 56 in November. Then in December, the PMI fell to an 18-month low of 54.9. The PMI, which increased to 56.5 in January and 56.9 in February, was 56.4 in March.
- It then increased to 58.2 in April and then fell to 57.6 in May. Then it increased to 58.4 in June, a level not seen in the previous 14 months. Meanwhile, the PMI index for manufacturing activities increased to 59.1 in July. This is the highest PMI number in the last 16 months.
- With this, the PMI index for the manufacturing sector has been above the neutral threshold of 50 for the 49th consecutive month. If the index number is above 50, it indicates a healthy trend in the manufacturing sector, and if it is below 50, it indicates a recession.
- The report noted that the emergence of new demand for manufactured goods and the favorable environment for the sector played a key role in the sector's PMI registering a 16-month growth in July.
