Lok Sabha Speaker inaugurates first National Conference of Heads of Urban Local Bodies from States and Union Territories at Manesar, Gurugram
  • The first National Conference of Heads of Urban Local Bodies from States and Union Territories will be inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla tomorrow (July 03) at the International Centre for Automotive Technology at Manesar, Gurugram, Haryana.
  • Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayyap Singh, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Shri Harvinder Kalyan and several dignitaries will attend the inaugural session.
  • The conference aims to serve as a platform to highlight the important role of urban local bodies in a rapidly urbanising country. It also aims to share best practices and explore and showcase innovative approaches to urban governance.
  • The conference is being held under the theme of the role of urban local governments in strengthening constitutional democracy and the nation-building process.
National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development renamed as Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development
  • The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development has been officially renamed as Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development.
  • In a significant move aimed at strengthening people-to-people connectivity and enhancing regional capacity, a new regional centre is set to be inaugurated in Ranchi, Jharkhand on July 4, 2025.
  • The centre will cater to the specialized training and research needs of the ministry’s flagship programmes Mission Shakti, Mission Vadsalya and Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, with a special focus on the eastern regions comprising Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal.
  • Earlier, the training needs of these states were partially met through regional centres located in Guwahati and Lucknow. Long travel distances also posed transportation difficulties for many operators.
Iran exits from International Atomic Energy Agency
