Prime Minister Modi releases Rajendra Chola commemorative coin
- The triple celebration of Rajendra Chola's 1,005th birth anniversary, the 1,000th anniversary of the construction of Gangaikonda Cholapuram, and the 1,000th anniversary of the invasion of Southeast Asian countries began on Wednesday (July 23) evening with an exhibition of Chola-era temples.
- On the concluding day of the festival, Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended and had darshan of Peruvudaiyar and visited the temple complex and a photo exhibition. Later, at the function, his father-in-law released a commemorative coin of Rajendra Chola.
- A musical performance by composer Ilayaraja was also held at the closing ceremony. The audience was mesmerized by the song Om Sivoham composed by Ilayaraja in the musical performance. Ilayaraja also played the Thiruvasakam Symphony for Choleswarar at the function.
- The 14th edition of the India-Singapore Joint Military Exercise "BOLT Kurukshetra 2025" will begin today (27 July 2025) in Jodhpur and will continue till 04 August 2025.
- The exercise will involve the 42nd Regiment of the 4th Singapore Armoured Division and the Indian Army's Mechanized Infantry Division.
- The exercise is being conducted as a combat exercise aimed at training in operational procedures for mechanized warfare. It will culminate with a display of Indian Army equipment.
- Senior officers from both sides participated in the opening ceremony. The Indian contingent was led by Colonel Arjun Ganapathy, Commanding Officer, Mechanized Infantry Division.
- The Singapore contingent was led by Lieutenant Colonel Q. G. Yeung, Battalion Commander, 42 Singapore Armoured Division.
- The BOLT Kurukshetra 2025 exercise will further strengthen the strong defence ties between India and Singapore and foster cooperation.
