Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the "Victory Surety" scheme
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today (July 1) launched the "Victory Surety" scheme while attending the three-year success ceremony of the "I am the First" scheme held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
- While there was no reservation in the Supreme Court, that situation has now changed. For the first time in history, reservation has been implemented in the Supreme Court. Accordingly, reservation has been implemented in relation to the direct appointment and promotion of Adi Dravidians and tribals working in the Supreme Court.
- Job-wise reservation is in effect for the posts of registrars, senior personal assistants, assistant librarians, junior court assistants, chamber assistants and others. The policy for this has been defined and introduced.
- In these jobs, 15 percent of the posts have been reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7.5 percent for Scheduled Tribes. This reservation percentage has been given as per the Central Government's direct recruitment reservation rules.
- This is the first time in history that such reservation has been given to Supreme Court employees. This practice has come into effect from June 23, 2025. A circular was sent to all the employees and registrars of the Supreme Court on the 24th of last month.
- This is going to bring about a big change in the internal administration of the Supreme Court. If we take the Supreme Court, there is no reservation for anyone, including the judges.
- The production of some important minerals in the country has continued to grow in the financial year 2025-26. Under the Mineral Protection and Development Rules, iron ore accounts for 70 percent of the total mineral production.
- Iron ore production increased from 52.7 million metric tonnes in the financial year 2024-25 (April-May) to 53 million metric tonnes in the financial year 2025-26 (April-May).
- Manganese ore production increased by 1.4% to 0.70 million metric tonnes in the financial year 2025-26 (April-May), as against 0.69 million metric tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year.
- Bauxite ore production also increased by 0.9% to 4.73 million metric tonnes in the current financial year, as against 4.69 million metric tonnes in the financial year 2024-25.
- Zinc ore production increased by 3.7% to 0.28 million metric tonnes in the current (2025-26) financial year (April-May), as against 0.27 million metric tonnes in the financial year (April-May).
- Limestone production was 80.10 million metric tonnes in the financial year (April-May) and increased by 1.6% to 81.40 million metric tonnes in the financial year (April-May).
- In the non-ferrous metals sector, primary aluminium production grew by 1.3% in the financial year (April-May) 2025-26 over the same period last year. It was 6.98 lakh tonnes in the previous financial year. In the financial year 2025-26 (April-May) it increased to 7.07 lakh tonnes. Refined copper production increased to 0.99 lakh tonnes during the period 2024-25 (April-May) from 0.69 lakh tonnes, registering a growth of 43.5%.
- Udayagiri, the second attack warship built by the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilding Company under Project 17A, was handed over to the Indian Navy today (01.07.2025). These multi-role warships are capable of dealing with maritime threats against India. The Udayagiri ship is a modernized version of the erstwhile INS Udayagiri.
- The warships being built under Project 17A have advanced features including modern weapons and sensor systems.
- The construction of the Udayagiri frigate was completed in 37 months from the date of commencement of construction and handed over to the Indian Navy.
- The Union Cabinet today approved the National Sports Policy 2025, a major initiative aimed at reshaping the country’s sports landscape and empowering citizens through sports.
- The new policy replaces the existing National Sports Policy 2001 and is based on a vision and planning to position India as a global sports powerhouse and a strong contender for excellence in international sporting events, including the 2036 Olympic Games.
- The National Sports Policy 2025 has been formulated in extensive consultation with Central Ministries, NITI Aayog, State Governments, National Sports Federations, athletes, field experts and public stakeholders.
- As a strategic move to enhance the research and innovation ecosystem in the country, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the Research, Development and Innovation Scheme (RDI) with a capital outlay of Rs. 1 lakh crore.
- Recognizing the role of the private sector in promoting innovation and commercialising research work, the RDI scheme aims to attract private sector investments by providing long-term financing or refinancing at low or zero interest rates.
- The scheme is designed to address the constraints and challenges in the private sector’s investments.
- The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Employment Incentive Scheme to support job creation in all sectors, with a special focus on the manufacturing sector, and to enhance employability skills and social security.
- Under this scheme, first-time hires will get a monthly salary (up to Rs. 15,000/-) while employers will be given incentives for one to two years for creating additional employment.
- The manufacturing sector will also be given incentives extended for two more years. The Employment Incentive Scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2024-25 as part of the Prime Minister’s five-pronged package to facilitate employment, skill development and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth, with a total budget allocation of Rs. 2 lakh crore.
- The Employment Incentive Scheme aims to create over 3.5 crore jobs in the country in 2 years at a cost of Rs. 99,446 crore. Of these, 1.92 crore beneficiaries will be first-time job seekers. The benefits of this scheme will be applicable to jobs created between August 01, 2025 and July 31, 2027.
- The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of a 46.7 km four-laning highway between Paramakudi - Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu. The project will be constructed on a hybrid annuity model at a cost of Rs. 1,853 crore.
- Currently, the 2-laning National Highway No. 87 between Madurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Mandapam, Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi and its associated state highways will be connected to this four-laning highway.
- Due to the increasing traffic congestion, especially in the densely populated areas and major cities on the routes, the National Highway No. 87 from Paramakudi to Ramanathapuram will be upgraded to a 4-lane road under this project.
- This will provide a permanent solution to the traffic congestion on this route. It will also ensure safety on the highways and help meet the transportation needs of the rapidly growing urban areas like Paramakudi, Chathirakudi, Achchundanvayal, Ramanathapuram.
