President presents awards for cleanliness survey 2024-25
- President Draupadi Murmu presented the awards for cleanliness survey 2024-25 at a function organised by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
- At the function, in the presence of Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Dogan Sahu, 23 cities in the country were felicitated for their effective cleanliness work.
- Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Lucknow have emerged as the best clean cities for India’s new generation. 43 national awards have been announced, including a special recognition for Mahakumbh Mela.
- At the function, Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal presented the award for the best Ganga city to Prayagraj. Secunderabad Cantonment was awarded the Best Cantonment Board for Sanitation Initiatives. GVMC Visakhapatnam and Jabalpur and Gorakhpur were declared the Best Sanitation City for their outstanding commitment to the safety and dignity of sanitation workers.
- The Uttar Pradesh State Government, Prayagraj Mela Special Officer and Prayagraj Municipality were awarded special recognition for their excellent urban waste management during the world’s largest festival, the Mahakumbh Mela, which was attended by a large number of people.
- A high-altitude test of Akash Prime air defence system has been successfully conducted. The test was conducted in Ladakh yesterday (16.07.2025). The Akash air defence system can be stationed at an altitude of 4,500 meters. It is capable of hitting targets at a distance of 25 to 30 kilometers.
- The Air Defence Organisation (ADO) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have jointly developed it in collaboration with public sector undertakings Bharat Dynamics and Bharat Electronics.
- This is a major step forward in the country's missile development programmes. Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has lauded the achievement.
