Central government approves setting up of Electronics Manufacturing Complex (EMC 2.0) at a cost of Rs 417 crore in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh
  • The Central government has approved setting up of Electronics Manufacturing Complex (EMC 2.0) at a cost of Rs 417 crore in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. It aims to promote local manufacturing and innovation.
  • The state government has a significant role to play in the implementation of the scheme. It has been acknowledged and advised to work with the state governments to ensure speedy implementation of the scheme.
  • The approved Electronics Manufacturing Complex 2.0 project will be developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. The complex will be set up on an area of ​​200 acres and is expected to attract an investment of Rs 2,500 crore.

Union Cabinet approves resolution to celebrate 50th anniversary of Emergency
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has decided to commemorate and honour the sacrifices of countless individuals who bravely resisted the imposition of Emergency and the attempts to subvert the spirit of the Constitution of India. In 1974, attempts were made to ban the Navnirman Movement and the Sampoorna Kranti Movement.
  • To mark the occasion, a two-minute silence was observed at the Union Cabinet meeting to pay tribute to those who were deprived of their constitutionally guaranteed democratic rights and subsequently suffered unimaginable hardships. The Union Cabinet paid tribute to their courage and resistance against the encroachments of the Emergency.
  • The year 2025 is an unforgettable chapter in the history of India when the Constitution was subverted, the spirit of republic and democracy was distorted, the principle of federalism was undermined, and fundamental rights, human freedoms and dignity were violated. This marks the 50th anniversary of the Constitution Day.
  • The Union Cabinet reiterated that the people have unwavering faith in the Constitution of India and the resilience of the democratic norms of the country.
Cabinet approves setting up of South Asia Regional Centre of International Potato Centre at Singhna, Agra, Uttar Pradesh
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to set up South Asia Regional Centre of International Potato Centre at Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The main objective of the Centre is to enhance food and nutrition security, increase farmers’ income and employment by improving potato and sugarcane productivity, post-harvest management and value addition.
  • The potato industry in India has the potential to generate significant employment opportunities in production, processing, packaging, transportation, marketing, value chain etc.
Union Cabinet approves Phase 1 extension and Phase 2 extension of Pune Metro Rail Project
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved Phase 2 of Pune Metro Rail Project, including Vanas - Chandani Chowk (Line 2A), Ramwadi - Wagholi / Vittalwadi (Line 2B) and extension of the existing Vanas - Ramwadi line under Phase 1. 
  • These two high-level lines are 12.75 km long and include 13 stations. The metro rail projects will be taken up to connect the rapidly developing suburban areas like Chandani Chowk, Bhowdan, Kothrud, Karadi, Wagholi. The works are scheduled to be completed within four years.
  • The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 3626.24 crore. The work will be undertaken jointly by the Maharashtra State Government, the Central Government and private companies. The work to be undertaken under this project is an extension of the existing 2nd route.
  • It also includes the expansion project from Chandani Chowk to Wagholi to improve the east-west rail travel of people in Pune.
Cabinet approves revised Jharia Master Plan for rehabilitation of families affected by fire and landslide in Jharia coal mine
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the revised Jharia Master Plan for rehabilitation of families affected by fire and landslide in Jharia coal mine. 
  • An amount of Rs. 5,940.47 crore has been allocated for the implementation of the revised plan. The work will be carried out on a priority basis in the most affected areas.
  • The target has been set to implement skill development projects and generate income-generating employment to ensure that the resettled families become economically self-reliant.
  • Further, infrastructure and essential facilities such as roads, electricity, drinking water supply, sewage disposal, schools, hospitals, skill development centres, community halls will be provided in the resettled areas. These will be implemented based on the recommendations of the revised Zaria Capital Improvement Plan Implementation Committee.
