K. Surender takes oath as Madras High Court Judge
- The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the transfer of K. Surender, who served as a judge in the Telangana High Court, to the Madras High Court.
- Accepting this, President Draupadi Murmu had ordered his transfer. Accordingly, Chief Justice K.R. Sriram administered the oath of office to Judge Surender at a ceremony held at the Madras High Court yesterday.
- Following Judge Surender's swearing-in, the number of judges working in the Madras High Court has increased to 59. 16 judge posts are vacant.
- The Women's Artist Asian Championship Gymnastics competition was held in South Korea. India's Pranati Nayak (30) participated in the vault category. Pranati, who scored 13.466 points in the final, came 3rd and won the bronze medal.
- China's Zhang Yihan (13.650) and Vietnam's Nguyen Thi (13.583) won gold and silver respectively. Another Indian, Protista Samantha, finished fourth with a score of 13.016. This is Pranathi's third medal in artistic gymnastics. Earlier, Pranathi had won two bronze medals in Ulaanbaatar in 2019 and Doha in 2022.
