MoU between C-DOT and Synergy Quantum to jointly develop quantum key distribution technology suitable for drone-based systems
  • In a future initiative to enhance India’s capabilities in secure communication devices based on quantum technology, Centre for Telematics Development (C-DOT), the premier telecom research and development organisation under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Synergy Quantum India, a private sector company engaged in the field of quantum technology.
  • The objective of the MoU is to formalise the collaboration between C-DOT and Synergy Quantum in the development of drone-based quantum key distribution systems using decoy-based BP84 protocol with polarization encryption at Technology Readiness Level 6 or above.
  • The agreement will strengthen indigenous research and innovation under the "Self-Reliant India" initiative and work in tandem with the national vision to enhance India's capabilities in emerging secure telecommunications technologies.
  • As part of this joint venture, C-DOT and Synergy Quantum will focus on the development of quantum communication technologies suitable for drone-based applications.
  • The joint activities will include co-development of major research projects at national and international levels, publication of scholarly articles, white papers and other platforms, and implementation of research projects.
  • Key representatives and industry experts from both institutions will meet and hold discussions, deliver short-term courses and organize seminars, conferences and consultancies on relevant research themes from time to time.
