Tamil Nadu Assembly passes Katchatheevu recovery resolution
- The Indian central government ceded Katchatheevu, which belongs to Tamil Nadu, to Sri Lanka in 1974 without the consent of Tamil Nadu. The resolution has been passed again in the Assembly while the case against this is pending in the Supreme Court. Tamil Nadu's position is that the only way to solve the fishermen's problem in Tamil Nadu is to recover Katchatheevu.
- To emphasize this, the Katchatheevu recovery resolution is to be passed for the 4th time in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Katchatheevu recovery resolutions were passed in the Assembly once when Karunanidhi was the Chief Minister and twice when Jayalalithaa was the Chief Minister.
- Now, for the 4th time, the personal resolution tabled by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been passed.
- The third phase of the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Project aims to improve the investment climate, including strengthening regulatory frameworks and improving infrastructure.
- In this context, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a loan agreement of Rs 2,106 crore for the third phase of the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Project.
- The third phase of the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Project aims to promote sustainable, future-oriented growth in line with India's development and focuses on emerging green sectors, the Japan International Cooperation Agency said.
- While several rare archaeological artifacts have been found in the third phase of the Vembakkottai excavation in Virudhunagar district, a 'golden bead' has now been found at a depth of 2.04 meters.
- This bell has a circumference of 6 mm, a thickness of 4.7 mm and a weight of 22 mg. So far, 7 gold artifacts have been found in the Vembakkottai excavations.
- According to the information released by the Finance Ministry, Rs. 1.96 lakh crore was collected in March alone. Financial experts have said that this tax collection has increased by 10% when compared to the tax collection in February 2025.
- The Finance Ministry has said that this tax increase will help improve the growth of the economy and trade in India.
