India's Industrial Production Index March 2025
- The Industrial Production Index growth rate for the month of March 2025 was 3.0 percent. This was 2.9 percent in February 2025 (rapid estimate). The growth rates of the three sectors - mining, manufacturing and electricity - were 0.4 percent, 3.0 percent and 6.3 percent respectively.
- The rapid estimates of the Industrial Production Index (IPI) were 164.8 in March this year as against 160.0 in March last year. The Industrial Production Index (IPI) for the mining, manufacturing and electricity sectors for March this year are 156.8, 160.9 and 217.1 respectively.
- Out of 23 industry groups in the manufacturing sector, 23 registered positive growth in March this year as compared to the previous year.
- Among the industry groups, "Manufacture of basic metals", "Manufacture of steel pipes, bars and other various types of production have registered significant growth. In the "Manufacture of motor vehicles and trailers" industry group, "Automotive parts, trucks and trailer parts" have grown.
- The Cabinet Committee on Defence, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the deal for 22 single-seat Rafale M fighter jets and 4 twin-seat trainer aircraft earlier this month. In this context, India today (April 28) signed a deal worth Rs 63,000 crore with France to enhance the capabilities of its navy.
- Accordingly, the deal is for the purchase of 26 Rafale Marine aircraft for the country's first aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. These 26 aircraft will be delivered to India within 5 years from the date of signing of the deal.
- The aircraft, manufactured by French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation, are equipped with a variety of features and are specifically designed to operate from 40,000-ton aircraft carriers.
