Tamil Nadu government orders, circulars to be published only in Tamil - Tamil Nadu government order
  • "To fully implement the Tamil Official Language Act and to use Tamil in all activities in government offices, the following instructions should be followed without fail. Tamil government orders, circulars should be published only in Tamil. 
  • Comments sent from departmental headquarters to government and other offices should be in Tamil. Letters from the public in Tamil should be replied to in Tamil. Government employees should sign in Tamil only in all races," it has been stated.
Vice-Chancellors' Consultative Meeting chaired by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin
  • A consultative meeting of Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of all universities will be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. This evening, 10 Vice-Chancellors, 22 Registrars and Higher Education Minister Kovi Chezhiyan will participate in this meeting to be held at the Kavinar Mansion in the Secretariat, Chennai.
Overall exports increased by 5.50 percent in the last financial year (2024-25) compared to the financial year 2023-24
  • The country's exports in the last financial year (April-March) increased by 5.50 percent compared to the previous financial year (2023-24).
  • In the financial year 2023-24, both exports of goods and services were at 778.13 billion US dollars. It is estimated that overall exports in the last financial year (2024-25) increased by 5.50 percent to 820.93 billion US dollars.
  • In the financial year 2024-25, exports of coffee, electronic goods, rice, meat, milk, tea, textiles, medicines, minerals, engineering products, fruits, vegetables, etc. increased significantly. Coffee exports increased from USD 1.29 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 1.81 billion in FY 2024-25, an increase of 40.37 percent.
  • Electronics exports increased from USD 29.12 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 38.58 billion in FY 2024-25, an increase of 32.47 percent. Rice exports increased from USD 10.42 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 12.47 billion in FY 2024-25, an increase of 19.73 percent.
  • Exports of meat, dairy products and poultry products increased by 12.57% from USD 4.53 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 5.1 billion in FY 2024-25. Tea exports increased by 11.84% from USD 0.83 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 0.92 billion in FY 2024-25.
  • Readymade garments exports of all textiles increased by 10.03% from USD 14.53 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 15.99 billion in FY 2024-25. Pharmaceutical exports increased by 9.39% from USD 27.85 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 30.47 billion in FY 2024-25.
  • Engineering products exports increased by 6.74% from USD 109.3 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 116.67 billion in FY 2024-25. Fruits and vegetables exports increased by 5.67% from USD 3.66 billion in FY 2023-24 to USD 3.87 billion in FY 2024-25.
  • Total exports for the month of March 2025 are estimated at USD 73.61 billion. This is a growth of 2.65% compared to March 2024.
Retail inflation in India falls to lowest level in 6 years
  • Retail inflation in India, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which reflects the cost of everyday goods and services, fell significantly to 4.6% in the financial year 2024-25. This is the lowest since 2018-19.
  • Retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell to 3.34% in March. This is the lowest inflation since August 2019, i.e. in 67 months, or about 6 years. The main reason for the decline in inflation was the fall in the prices of food items including vegetables, eggs, pulses and meat. Food inflation fell to 2.69% in March from 3.75% in February.
  • Compared to March last year, the prices of ginger, tomatoes and garlic have fallen significantly in March this year. Meanwhile, last month, inflation was 3.43 percent in urban areas and 3.25 percent in rural areas.
India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise Dustlik-6
  • The 6th edition of the India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise Dustlik-6 began today (16.04.2025) at the Overseas Training Terminal in Andhil, Pune. The exercise will continue till 28 April 2025.
  • The 60-strong Indian contingent includes the Jat Regiment and the Indian Air Force. The Uzbek contingent includes Uzbek soldiers.
  • The joint exercise Dustlik-6 is an annual training event held alternately in India and Uzbekistan. The last edition was held in Termez, Uzbekistan in April 2024. The theme of the exercise is "Joint Multi-Stage, Conventional Operations".
