Kerala introduces online Lok Adalat services for the first time in the country
- Kerala has become the first state to provide online Lok Adalat services. With this, it has been made possible to file petitions online and appear online. Kerala has introduced online Lok Adalat services with the aim of making it easier for everyone, especially those belonging to the marginalized communities, to access the justice system.
- Currently, online Lok Adalat sessions have been set up in Kerala at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode. However, the announcement that petitions can now be filed in the Lok Adalat online will break these barriers. This service will be fully implemented from the first week of May.
- In this way, facilities have been made for everyone to access the justice system, file petitions and appear for hearing through e-service centers in districts, talukas and panchayats.
- India has voted in favour of the world's first global carbon tax on the shipping industry, imposed by the United Nations' Shipping Agency. 62 other countries have also voted in favour of the carbon tax.
