Number of Ramsar sites in Tamil Nadu increases to 20
- On the occasion of World Wetlands Day, Chakrakottai and Therdangal bird sanctuaries in Ramanathapuram district have been declared as new Ramsar sites.
- With this, the number of Ramsar sites in Tamil Nadu has increased to 20, the highest in India. It is noteworthy that 19 of these sites were declared as Ramsar sites after we started the Tamil Nadu Wetlands Movement in 2021.
- GST collection in India has increased by a record 12.3% in January. The Union Finance Ministry has issued an official notification in this regard. The Union Finance Ministry has said that the total Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in January 2025 is Rs. 1.96 lakh crore.
- While the total GST collection in January 2024 was Rs 1.74 lakh crore, the GST collection in January this year has increased by 12.3%. The total GST collection so far in 2024-25 (April to January) has increased by 9.4 percent to Rs 18.29 lakh crore.
- This was Rs 16.71 lakh crore in the same period of 2023-24. The total GST collection in the financial year 2023-24 has been recorded at Rs 20.18 lakh crore.
- This is an increase of 11.7 percent over the previous financial year. The total GST collection in April 2024 had increased to Rs 2.10 lakh crore, setting a record.
