Muthupet Police Station Selected as the Best Police Station in India
  • The Union Home Ministry conducted a study on the work of all police stations in India for the year 2024. In this study, the Union Government has selected and recognized Muthupet Police Station in Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu as the best police station in the annual ranking.
  • In this context, Trichy Central Zone IG Joshi Nirmal Kumar, who came directly to Muthupet Police Station yesterday, presented the certificate to Inspector Kalaniyappan and Sub-Inspector Mohanraj and congratulated them.
  • At that time, Thanjavur Saraka DIG Ziaul Haque, Tiruvarur SP Karunkarat, Muthupet DSP Anand, Tiruvarur District Crime Records Deputy Superintendent Philip Franklin Kennedy and Special Branch Inspector Raja were present.
PM Modi holds talks with French President - Bilateral agreements signed
  • In a reflection of their personal ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron flew together from Paris to Marseille yesterday in the French Presidential aircraft.

  • The talks covered all aspects of the India-France partnership. The two leaders reviewed cooperation in key areas of defence, civil nuclear energy and space. Ten outcomes were finalised in the areas of technology and innovation, civil nuclear energy, environment, culture and people-to-people relations.
  • President Macron hosted a dinner in honour of the Prime Minister in the coastal town of Cassis near Marseille. PM invites President Macron to visit India.
Retail inflation falls to 4.31% in January
  • Retail inflation fell to 4.31% in January due to lower food prices. Retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index was 5.22% in December and 5.1% in January 2024. 
  • Food inflation was 6.02%, down from 8.39% in December and 8.3% last year. The Reserve Bank of India has been asked to ensure that retail inflation remains at 4%.
