Union Minister Push Goyal inaugurated National Tumeric Board
- It is said to be producing 30 varieties of turmeric in India. India is said to have contributed more than 70% of the global turmeric production. Farmers in the states of Maharashtra, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are producing a large number of turmeric.
- Awareness of the benefits of turmeric after the infection is said to have increased among the people. In this context, Prime Minister Modi said in 2023 that the central government has decided to set up the National Tumeric Board in view of the needs of the turmeric farmers and the opposition.
- In this context, Union Trading Minister Push Goyal inaugurated the National Tumeric Board in Delhi today. Palle Ganga Reddy has been announced as the Chairman of the Board. The headquarters of the Yellow Board is set up in Nizamabad.
- The Tumeric Board will pay special attention to the welfare of the Tumeric farmers spread in 20 states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya. The setting up of the Tumeric Board is expected to increase the income of turmeric producers in the country.
- The National Statistics Office released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of December. Accordingly, retail inflation fell to 5.22 per cent in December, from 5.48 per cent in November. This is the lowest level in the last 4 months. This was 5.69 percent in December last year.
