Separate resolution in Tamil Nadu Assembly against tungsten mining
- The Tamil Nadu Assembly session met this morning. At that time, the Tamil Nadu government has brought a resolution urging the Central Government not to allow mining without the permission of the state governments.
- That is, a separate resolution was brought in the Assembly today, urging the cancellation of tungsten mineral mining rights in Aritapatti, Tamil Nadu. Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan proposed this resolution in the Assembly. The resolution was passed after the views of the members of the Assembly.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the "Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024" and the Rajasthan Global Trade Fair at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
- The theme of the Investment Summit, which will be held from December 9 to 11 this year, is ‘Completion, Responsibility, Readiness’.
- The summit will host 12 sector-specific thematic sessions on themes including water security, sustainable mining, sustainable finance, inclusive tourism, agribusiness innovation and women-led start-ups. Eight sessions with participating countries on themes such as ‘Water Management for Liveable Cities’, ‘Diversification of Industries in Manufacturing and Beyond’ and ‘Trade and Tourism’ will also be held during the summit.
- The Rajasthani Overseas Conference and the MSME Conference will also be held over the three days. The Rajasthan Global Trade Fair will feature thematic pavilions such as the Rajasthan Pavilion, domestic pavilions and the Startup Pavilion. Over 32 countries, including 16 partner countries and 20 international organizations, are participating in the conference.
- The All India Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Workers and Rural Workers increased by 11 and 10 points to 1,315 and 1,326 points in October 2024, the Labour Ministry said in its report.
- According to the report, while the All India Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Workers and Rural Workers in September were 1,304 points and 1,316 points respectively, the inflation rate for agricultural workers and rural workers for October was 5.96 percent and 6.00 percent respectively. It is noteworthy that this was 7.08 percent and 6.92 percent in October 2023.
- The Central Government has appointed Sanjay Malhotra as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Sanjay Malhotra is a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan batch.
- The new governor has been appointed after the term of the current RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das ends on December 10 (Tuesday).
- Shaktikanta Das took office as the 25th RBI Governor on December 12, 2018. When his three-year term ended, the central government had extended his term by another year.
- Sanjay Malhotra is an engineering graduate in computer science from IIT-Kanpur. He later did his master's degree in public policy from a university in the US.
