• இந்தியாவில் நடைபெறும் சாலை விபத்து குறித்த அறிக்கை 2024 / ROAD ACCIDENT REPORT 2024 IN INDIA: Acko-வின் ஆக்சிடென்ட் இன்டெக்ஸ் 2024 அறிக்கையின்படி, நாட்டில் நடைபெறும் சாலை விபத்துகளில் இந்தியாவில் உள்ள மெட்ரோ நகரங்கள் அனைத்தும் 78% பங்கு வகிப்பதோடு, ஹைதராபாத் மற்றும் டெல்லி என்சிஆர் ஆகியவை அதிக விபத்துகள் பதிவாகும் நகரங்களாக உள்ளன.

• விபத்துக்குள்ளாகும் வாகனங்களில் முதலிடத்தில் இருப்பது ஹூண்டாய் ஐ10 ஆகும், இதனை தொடர்ந்து மாருதி சுசுகி ஸ்விஃப்ட் மற்றும் மாருதி சுசுகி பலேனோ போன்ற சில பிரபலமான கார் மாடல்கள் உள்ளன. இந்த பட்டியலில் இருக்கும் மேலும் இரண்டு மாடல்கள் ஹூண்டாய் ஐ20 மற்றும் மாருதி சுசுகி டிசையர் ஆகும்.

• 44.8 சதவீத பள்ளங்கள் தொடர்பான விபத்துகள் இந்த நகரத்தில் நிகழ்கின்றன. டெல்லி மற்றும் மும்பை முறையே 13.3 சதவீதம் மற்றும் 12.3 சதவீதத்துடன் இரண்டாவது மற்றும் மூன்றாவது இடத்தில் உள்ளன.

• ROAD ACCIDENT REPORT 2024 IN INDIA: According to Acko's Accident Index 2024 report, metro cities in India account for 78% of all road accidents in the country, with Hyderabad and Delhi NCR being the cities with the highest number of accidents.
• According to the report, Hyderabad and Delhi NCR top the accident table. These are followed by Pune and Bengaluru cities with 15.9% and 14.2% accident incidences respectively. 
• The areas with the highest risk of specific accidents in these cities include Bommanahalli in Bengaluru. The highest number of accidents were reported here. This was followed by Noida, Marunji in Pune and Mira Road in Mumbai.
• The report also highlighted the most common vehicles involved in these accidents. The Hyundai i10 topped the list of vehicles involved in accidents, followed by some popular car models like Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The other two models on the list are the Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
• Commenting on the report, Mayank Gupta, Vice President, Auto Insurance, ACKO General Insurance, said that the report aims to help policymakers and specific city administrators implement measures to improve road safety by identifying the locations and root causes of accidents.

Most common causes of road accidents

• ROAD ACCIDENT REPORT 2024 IN INDIA: The report sheds light on causes other than the usual ones. It is shocking to know that most road accidents are caused by stray animals. Stray dogs are responsible for 62 percent of such road accidents. This is followed by cows in 29 percent of accidents and buffaloes in 4 percent of accidents.
• Apart from animals, potholes are an even bigger hazard on Indian roads. Bengaluru tops the list. The city accounts for 44.8 per cent of pothole-related accidents. Delhi and Mumbai are second and third with 13.3 per cent and 12.3 per cent respectively.
• These figures highlight the need to improve urban infrastructure for better road safety. Natural disasters have also caused significant damage to vehicles. In Chennai, the report also said that 22 per cent of insurance claims were due to flooding caused by Cyclone Maichang.
