Suthu coral beads discovered in Vembakottai excavation
- The third phase of excavations in the Vijayakarishalkulam Mettukadu area near Vembakottai in Virudhunagar district began on June 18.
- More than 2,850 archaeological artifacts, including gold coins, copper coins, broken clay figurines, chess pieces, glass beads, round chips, and conch bracelets, have been discovered in this excavation so far.
- In this situation, conical and round blue Suthu coral beads were discovered in the excavation pit dug on Friday. The archaeological department said that this confirms the trade connection between Vembakottai and the northern states.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated various development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
