Guru Nanak's 555th Birth Anniversary - Pakistan Government Coin Release
- The 555th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak began on November 14 at his birthplace, Gurdwara Janam Astan Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. A large number of Sikhs from all over the world, including India, made a pilgrimage to attend the religious ceremonies held at this gurdwara.
- As the events are over, the country's First Sikh Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandh Committee, Ramesh Singh Arora, is currently sending off about 2,500 Indians who are currently returning to India.
- To mark the occasion, the Pakistani government on Friday released a special commemorative coin of Rs. 55 in the denomination of Pakistani rupees.
- On one side of the coin, the inscriptions of Gurdwara Janam Astan Nankana Sahib are engraved, while on the other side, the words Islamic Republic of Pakistan are engraved in Urdu with a crescent and star. The coin is made of 79% brass, 20% zinc and 1% nickel. It is 30 mm in diameter and weighs 13.5 grams.
- The previous Ranil Wickremesinghe government in Sri Lanka sought loan assistance from the International Monetary Fund in March 2023 as it faced a serious economic crisis.
- In this situation, the National People's Power Party won the elections there. Anura Kumara Dissanayake was elected as the President. The new President had announced that the IMF's loan program would continue to be implemented.
- Accordingly, the IMF team recently completed its review. Following this, the IMF has approved the disbursement of 3 billion US dollars (Rs. 25330 crore) as the 4th tranche to Sri Lanka.
