Announcement of country's 56th Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh
- The Guru Kasidas – Thamor Bingla Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh has been declared as the 56th Tiger Reserve in the country. Covering an area of over 2,829 square kilometers in 6 districts of the state, Kurugasidas-Thamor Pingla Tiger Reserve is the third largest tiger reserve in the country.
- The reserve consists of hilly areas, dense forests, streams and rivers making it a biodiversity haven and an important habitat for tigers. Also in this reserve, there are 753 species including 388 vertebrates and 365 invertebrates. Vertebrates include 230 species of birds and 55 species of mammals.
- As soon as the presidential election in Sri Lanka was announced, the left-wing party JVP entered the fray with the alliance. The JVP won the election with a majority.

- The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Madras High Court Judge Krishna Kumar as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. Senior Justice D. Krishnakumar was the Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court.
