Tamil Nadu Trekking Program was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin
- Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin today (24.10.2024) launched the 'Tamil Nadu Trekking Project' which includes 40 scenic trekking routes in Tamil Nadu at the Chief Secretariat.
- He also released the logo of the scheme and launched a dedicated website www.trektamilnadu.com for online booking.
- The program is a joint initiative of Tamil Nadu Forest Experience Corporation (TNWEC) and Tamil Nadu Forest Department (TNFD) with an aim to promote sustainable trekking in the forest and wildlife areas of Tamil Nadu.
- President Thirelapathi Murmu has appointed Sanjiv Khanna as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Sanjeev Khanna will take charge as the 51st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on November 11.
- Sanjeev Khanna will take office the day after the retirement of Chandrachud, who is currently the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
- The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has allocated Rs. 1,000 crore has approved setting up of private equity capital.
- Rs. 1,000 crore of proposed private pooled capital and the operational tenure of this fund is five years from the date of commencement of operations. Fund allocation based on investment opportunities and financial need per annum Rs. 150 to 250 crores.
- Prime Minister Mr. The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Narendra Modi approved two projects of the Ministry of Railways with a total estimate of Rs 6,798 crore.
- Double-tracking of Nargatiaganj – Raxaul – Sitamarhi – Darbanga and Sitamarhi – Muzaffarpur sections and strengthening the connectivity to Nepal, Northeast India and border areas and facilitating movement of passenger trains along with freight trains will lead to socio-economic development of the region.
- The new Erupalam-Amaravati-Nampuru railway project passes through NTR Vijayawada and Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh and Kammam district of Telangana. Covering 8 districts in 3 states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Bihar, these two projects will increase the existing infrastructure of Indian Railways by about 313 km.
- The 31st Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise 2024 is being held from 23 to 29 October 2024 at the Eastern Naval Base in Visakhapatnam. Republic of Singapore Naval Ship RSS Tenacious arrived Visakhapatnam on 23 October 2024 to participate with helicopters.
- Launched in 1994 as 'Exercise Lion King', the joint exercise has evolved into one of the most important bilateral maritime collaborations between the Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy.
- The exercise will be conducted in two phases - October 23 to 25 in the port area at Visakhapatnam and October 28 to 29 in the offshore area in the Bay of Bengal.
- Indian Navy ship INS Delhi, German Navy's battleship Baden-Württemberg and tanker Frankfurt am Main conducted a joint maritime exercise in the Indian Ocean.
- The first Indo-German joint maritime exercise in the Bay of Bengal aims to further strengthen maritime connectivity between the two countries and interoperability between the navies. INS Delhi is a flagship anti-missile destroyer.
