Nayab Saini sworn in as Haryana Chief Minister
- In the Legislative Assembly elections held on October 5 in the state of Haryana, the BJP won 48 seats out of a total of 90 constituencies and retained power. Congress is the opposition party winning 37 seats.
- Earlier yesterday in Haryana, former chief minister Nayab Singh Saini (54) was unanimously elected as the leader of BJP legislators. After that he met Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and claimed the right to form the next government in the state. Nayab Singh Saini was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana.
- For 6 years from 1979 to 1985, various protests were carried out especially on behalf of the students' union, demanding the identification of illegal Bangladeshi residents in the state of Assam and their expulsion.
- Various student bodies participated in it. In this, the Assam Accord was signed between the government and student organizations. According to that agreement, the Citizenship Act allows those who migrated before 1 January 1966 to claim Indian citizenship.
- Immigrants were disenfranchised for 10 years between January 1, 1966 and midnight on March 24, 1971. After this period the state also decided to declare those who immigrated as illegal aliens.
- It is noteworthy that this is the first day that India's neighbor Bangladesh got its independence from Pakistan. Meanwhile, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of some indigenous people against the section of the Citizenship Act which recognizes the Assam Agreement.
- The bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud heard this petition on the basis of the constitution and decided that the citizenship law section will go to ratify the Assam Agreement and Parliament has the power to amend the citizenship law.
