Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resigns
  • Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Department and later by the CBI in the liquor policy case, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on the 13th. Arvind Kejriwal was released last week after almost 6 months of imprisonment.
  • Arvind Kejriwal had announced that he would resign from the post of Chief Minister as the Supreme Court imposed several conditions including not going to the Chief Minister's office and not signing documents. 
  • Meanwhile, a meeting of MLAs was held at Arvind Kejriwal's residence today at 11.30 am. After this meeting, it was announced that Adishi, who is the education minister, will be chosen as the next chief minister of Delhi.
  • In this situation, Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Chief Minister. Kejriwal met Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and submitted his resignation letter. At the same time, Adishi met the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and presented the letter of selection as the new Chief Minister and claimed the right to form the government.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched 'Subhatra', the largest women-centric project in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today (17.09.2024) launched 'Subhatra', a pilot scheme of the Odisha government in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It is the biggest women centric project. And it is expected to benefit more than 1 crore women. 
  • The Prime Minister also initiated the transfer of funds to the bank accounts of more than 10 lakh women. The Prime Minister participated in the inauguration celebrations for 26 lakh beneficiaries of the housing scheme from across the country. He also gave house keys to the beneficiaries. 
  • He launched Awaas+ 2004 (Awaas+ 2024) app for operational guidelines of Prime Minister's Urban Housing Scheme 2.0, survey of additional houses in the Prime Minister's Rural Housing Scheme.
PM Modi launched various development projects in Odisha
  • Prime Minister Modi launched Odisha government's women-centric Subadra Yojana and Rs 3,800 crore railway and national highway projects in the state. Modi laid the foundation stone for national railway projects worth Rs 2,871 crore in the state.
  • He also inaugurated national highway projects worth Rs.1000 crore in a program held at Janata Maidan.
India won the Asian Champions Hockey Trophy
  • The Asian Championship Cup hockey matches were held in Hulunbier, China on 8th September. India beat China 3-0 in their first match of the series. 5-1 win against Japan in the 2nd game. In the third match, India defeated Malaysia 8-1 to advance to the semi-finals.
  • India defeated Pakistan in the semi-final and met China in the final. Indian team beat China 1-0 to win the Asian Champions Hockey final. It is noteworthy that in the current series, the Indian team went to the final without losing and won the title. This is the 5th trophy won by Indian team in Asian Champions Trophy.
