5th meeting of State Planning Commission
- The 5th meeting of the State Planning Committee began under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin. He discussed the pilot projects of the Tamil Nadu government in the meeting.
- A consultation was held on the draft policies prepared by the State Planning Commission for the development of Tamil Nadu. The papers published by the project committee, workshops conducted and future plans were discussed in the meeting.
- The Labor Office of the Ministry of Labor and Employment compiles the Consumer Price Index for industrial workers every month based on retail prices collected from 317 markets in 88 industrially important centers of the country. Accordingly the code for the month of June 2024 has been released.
- The Consumer Price Index for All India Industrial Workers for June 2024 increased by 1.5 points to 141.4 points. Year-on-year inflation for June 2024 is 3.67 percent. It was 5.57 percent in June 2023
- In June 2024, the consumer price index for all India industrial workers was 141.4 points with food and beverages 148.7, rubber, tobacco 161.6, cloth and footwear 144.2, home furnishing 128.4, fuel, lighting 148.8, miscellaneous goods 136.3.
- Tarang Shakti 2024 Air Force Joint Combat Training is being conducted for one week at Sulur Air Force base, Coimbatore. On behalf of the Indian Defense Department, joint training is being carried out with the countries of Spain, France, England and Germany on behalf of the tri-armies.
- A joint air force exercise called Tarang Shakti 2024 is taking place with major NATO countries and the Indian Air Force.
- Accordingly, the joint air force exercise of five countries started today (August 6) at the Sulur Air Force Base in which various types of aircrafts such as Rubel Typhoon, Tejas, Sukai 30 aircraft and Air Force officers and Air Force personnel participated in this exercise.
- This exercise will be held for 8 days from today (August 6) to August 14 at Coimbatore Air Force base.
- The Ministry of Coal, along with the Ministry of Power and Natural Gas, signed a historic joint venture agreement today (05.08.2024) between two leading Maharatna PSUs, Coal India Limited (CIL) and GAIL (India) Limited. The deal marks a major step towards setting up a coal-to-synthetic natural gas (SNG) plant using Surface Coal Gasification (SCG) technology.
- Eastern Coalfields Limited's Raniganj plant in West Bengal plans to produce 80,000 NM3 per hour of synthetic natural gas (SNG). Annual production is projected at 633.6 million NM3 per hour. 9 million tons of coal for this. required. Coal for this will be supplied by Coal India.
- The collaboration and partnership of the two corporations is a major step towards the National Coal Gasification Initiative which will help harness the chemical properties of coal.
- Synthetic natural gas (SNG) is a fuel gas that mainly consists of methane, CH4, which is a raw material for the production of various chemicals and fertilizers. The upcoming plant will help conserve raw material, reduce import dependency of natural gas and promote self-sufficiency.
- Mr. Debashish Nanda, Director (Business Development), Coal India and Mr. RK Singh, Director, Business Development, GAIL, signed the MoU.
