N. Muruganandam as the new Chief Secretary of the Government of Tamil Nadu
- Sivdas Meena, who was the Chief Secretary, has been replaced by Na. Muruganandam as the new Chief Secretary. Muruganandam, who served as the Chief Minister's Private Secretary, has now been appointed as the Chief Secretary.
- It is noteworthy that N. Muruganandam is the 50th Chief Secretary of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Eva Sondhav, an officer of the Tamil Nadu IAS division, is from Chennai. An engineering and MBA graduate, Eav retired in 1991 after receiving IAS rank.
- The 3rd phase of excavation work is going on in Mettukkadu area on the north bank of Vijayakarisalkulam reservoir near Vembakkottai, Virudhunagar district. More than 450 objects including glass beads, stone beads, headpiece of a woman with hairstyle, Nayak period copper coin, ornaments, conch bangles were found here.
- In this case, flint seal, lamp, stone ball and stone chip disc were found yesterday (August 18). Through this, it has been confirmed that the ancestors used stone balls to drive away animals and used to trade with stamps.
- Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a meeting held in New Delhi to review the financial condition of public sector banks, deposit mobilization, digital cash disbursement and cyber security framework.
- The meeting was attended by Secretary Dr Vivek Joshi, Financial Services Secretary (Appointment) Mr M Nagaraju, Heads of Public Sector Banks and senior officials of Financial Services Department.
- Net non-performing loans declined to 0.76 percent during FY24. And with a dividend of Rs 27,830 crore to shareholders, public sector banks paid Rs. 1.45 lakh crore net profit was reported in this meeting.
