Discovery of Round Chips in Cuddalore Excavation
- A copper coin of the Rajasarasan era was found last week during the excavations being carried out in the habitat of Marungur in Cuddalore district. At present, round sherds of various sizes have been found.
- Girls and boys have played with these discs. Such games are now known as Bandy games. It is certain that the area being excavated is a residential area where people gathered because of the discovery of circular stones.
- Prime Minister Modi left Delhi for Russia's capital Moscow yesterday morning on a two-day visit. Following this, various phases of negotiations are going on on both sides.
- The two leaders visited the All Russian Exhibition Center in Moscow today. The center opened in November 2023 and is considered one of the largest exhibitions in the history of scientific and technological developments. - Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been awarded Russia's highest national award "Order of St. Andrew the Apostle" by Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin for his outstanding contribution to the development of Indo-Russian relations. Announced in 2019, the award was presented at a special ceremony held at St. Andrew's Hall in the Kremlin.
- Accepting the award, the Prime Minister said that the award is dedicated to the people of India and the traditional friendship between India and Russia. He said the recognition reflects the special, priority security partnership between the two countries.
- The award was established over 300 years ago. It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first Indian leader to receive this award.
- The Sixteenth Finance Commission has constituted an Advisory Committee consisting of 6 members. Dr. D.K. Srivatsava, Mr. Neelkant Mishra, Dr. Poonam Gupta, Ms. Franjul Bhandari, Rahul Bajoria Dr. Poonam Gupta will be the convener of the Advisory Committee.
- In a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India was approved to sign the Convention on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction. This landmark decision will be a significant step forward towards the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
- Areas often referred to as the 'high seas' are the global common oceans in areas beyond national jurisdiction. They are all rights reserved for legitimate international purposes such as shipping, air travel, submarine cables and pipelines. The Ministry of Geosciences will lead the implementation of this agreement.
- India beat South Africa in the T20 World Cup final to win the World Cup. Jasprit Bumrah was given the Man of the Series award for his outstanding performance throughout the T20 series.

- The 12th edition of the Joint Defense Cooperation Committee meeting between India and the United Arab Emirates was held in Abu Dhabi on July 09. During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of opportunities to further strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries.
- Extensive discussions were held in areas such as joint military training, defense and industrial cooperation, exchange of subject matter experts, research and development. The two sides discussed the regional security situation including maritime security and underlined the need to enhance cooperation to address security challenges.
- Exchange trips in different domains to benefit from each other's experience and knowledge were also discussed. Mutual exchange of training opportunities in key sectors was also agreed.
