Tamil Nadu record in solar power generation
- Tamil Nadu has set a new record of 5,512 MW in solar power generation. Yesterday (24.07.2024) Tamil Nadu generated 5,512 MW, surpassing the 5,398 MW achieved on March 5. By 2023 Sep 10, 2023, it has set a new record for solar generation, reaching 5,838 MW of wind power generation.
- The burial grounds of the Ahom royal family, which ruled the Saraidev region of Assam in ancient times, are called Maithams. These sites are currently included in UNESCO's World Heritage List.
- The announcement was made officially at the 46th meeting of the World Heritage Committee in New Delhi. It is the 43rd UNESCO World Heritage Site from India. Also Kaziranga National Park is the 3rd heritage site from Assam after Manas Forest Biological Sanctuary.
- In the last 10 years alone, 13 heritage sites from India have been added to this list. India ranks 6th in the world in the list of countries with the largest number of world heritage sites.
- Prime Minister Mr. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, India is playing a global and regional leadership role in disaster risk reduction. India has taken a number of global initiatives in this direction, particularly in the creation of an international coalition for disaster-resilient infrastructure.
- Mr. Rajendra Singh, Member, National Disaster Management Authority, representing the Government of India, assumed the charge of the Asia Disaster Preparedness Center for the year 2024-25 on Thursday 25 July 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
- It is an autonomous international organization to facilitate cooperation in disaster risk reduction and building climate resilience in the Asia and Pacific region. India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand are the founding members of this organization.
- India also chaired the 5th Board of Trustees meeting of the Center for Disaster Preparedness held on 25 July 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
- India and the US have signed an agreement to prevent illegal smuggling of antiquities from India to the US. The agreement was signed today (26.07.2024) on the sidelines of the 46th World Heritage Committee meeting held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
- Union Culture and Tourism Minister Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Culture Secretary Mr. Govind Mohan and US Ambassador to India Mr. Eric Garcetti signed the agreement. In line with UNESCO's 1970 Convention, the Convention on Cultural Property has been signed.
