6th Phase Talks between Indian Navy – Royal Navy of Oman
- In order to further strengthen the existing naval ties between India and Oman, the 6th phase of talks between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman was held in New Delhi on June 4 and 5, 2024. On behalf of the Oman Navy, Commander Jassim Mohammad Ali Al Baloozi and Commander Manmeet Singh Khurana on behalf of the Indian Navy presided over the talks.
- Maritime security challenges were discussed in these talks. Coordinated implementation, information sharing, maritime area awareness, training, astronomy, technical assistance were discussed.
- The Omani Naval Team met Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, Vice Admiral, Indian Navy. Oman is India's closest ally in the Gulf region. Talks between the navies of the two countries regarding naval cooperation are held regularly.
- An Indian delegation led by Commerce Secretary Sunil Pardwal participated in the Ministerial Meeting on Indo-Pacific Prosperous Economic Framework held in Singapore on June 6, 2024.
- The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework released the Ministerial Status Report 2023 on 14 November. Announced an advanced outcome of negotiations on an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework Agreement for Clean Economy, Fair Economy and Prosperity. Accordingly, the partners of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework completed a legal review of the text for these agreements and domestic ratification processes. The agreements were signed today by members of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.
- The first meeting of the Joint Working Group on India-Qatar Investment was held in New Delhi today. The Joint Task Force was co-chaired by Mr. Ajay Seth, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and Mr. Mohammed Bin Hassan Al Malki, Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of Qatar.
- In the spirit of fostering mutual growth and prosperity, the Joint Working Group on Investment reaffirmed the two countries' commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance joint capacity for accelerated growth, investment opportunities and cooperation in various sectors ranging from infrastructure and energy to technology and innovation.
- The Joint Technical Working Group highlighted the importance of strong economic ties between India and Qatar. It is rooted in shared values, common objectives and a shared vision for inclusive development.
