Discovery of Nandi and Vishnu statue near Thanjavur
- Dr. Sathya belongs to Chiturakudi next to Chiturakudi in Thanjavur district. On the information given by him that the Nandi statue is half buried in his land, Manimaran, Tamil Pandit and Historian of Thanjavur Saraswati Mahal Library, Thillai Govindarajan, Principal of Government Primary School, and Jayaletsumi, Graduate Teacher of Government Middle School visited the area. They did a field survey the day before yesterday. Then Nandisila, a damaged Vishnu idol was found there.
- This Nandi is found to belong to the Chola period of the 910th century AD. Nandi's neck necklace is specially designed. Thimil is similar to the bull in this region.
- A three feet tall Vishnu statue was found with its head and one arm broken and half buried below the waist, along the southern bank of the Ananda Cauvery canal, which can be reached 100 meters away. Both these are sculptures of Chola period.
- The Indian Coast Guard and Jindal Steel and Power Company (JSP) signed an MoU on 07 May 2024 for production of domestic marine grade steel to improve domestic standards in shipbuilding. Through this partnership, both sides are committed to foster indigenization and develop capabilities to produce and utilize these products for the benefit of the country.
- The MoU notes the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing complex security challenges and emphasizes the need for collaboration between government agencies and the private sector. The agreement also gives the shipyards an assurance of timely supply of marine-grade steel products to the Indian Coast Guard.
- The MoU was signed by Deputy Director General (Equipment and Maintenance), Indian Coast Guard, Mr. HK Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, JSP, Mr. SK Pradhan in the presence of senior officers of the Indian Coast Guard.
