Anti-Piracy Ship INS Sarada Awarded
- An Iranian fishing vessel was hijacked by pirates off the east coast of Somalia. After receiving information about this, the Indian Navy sent INS Sharada Kappa. Subsequently, on February 2, the pirates were caught and 11 Iranian sailors and 8 Pakistanis were safely rescued from the fishing vessel.
- In this context, Naval Commander Admiral Harikumar, who arrived at the Southern Naval Base in Kochi, lauded INS Sarada with the 'On the Spot Unit Citation' award for successfully conducting anti-piracy operations.
