- The test was conducted as part of a routine exercise to assess the readiness of the Indian Defense Forces. The Akash missile system was indigenously designed and developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) under the Self-Reliance India programme.
- The Akash missile system is a missile system developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). It was developed under the Missile Development Program (IGMDP). Nag, Agni and Trishul missiles and Prithvi ballistic missile were also developed under this programme.
- Two missiles have been developed for use by the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army. The Indian Army inducted the first batch of Akash missiles in May 2015.
- The first Akash missile was delivered to the Indian Air Force in March 2012. The missile was formally inducted into the Indian Air Force in July 2015. Akash missile system has many features like launcher, missile, control center, integrated mission guidance system, fire control radar, digital autopilot etc.
- 1.78 lakh crore in March 2024. This is an increase of 11.5 percent compared to the same month in 2023. This tax collection is the second largest GST collection ever.

- For Tamil Nadu, the GST revenue in March 2024 is Rs. 11,017 crores. This is a growth of 19 percent compared to the same month last year. Last year in March Rs. 9,245 crore in revenue.
- In respect of Puducherry, the GST collection in March was Rs 221 crore. This is 9 percent higher than March last year. Puducherry had a revenue of Rs 204 crore in March last year.
- According to the index of eight major industries (base year 2011-12) published by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the coal sector witnessed the highest growth of 11.6% among the eight major industries in February 2024.
- The Coal Industry Index stood at 212.1 points in February compared to 190.1 points in the same period last year. Its overall index increased by 12.1% from April 2023 to February 2024 over the same period of the previous year.
- The ICI measures the combined and individual production efficiency of eight major industries: cement, coal, crude oil, electricity, fertilizers, natural gas, refineries, and steel.
- The composite index of eight major industries showed an increase of 6.7% in February 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year.
- The coal industry has continued to perform well, exhibiting steady double-digit growth in the last eight months and growth significantly higher than the combined growth of the eight major industries in the last two fiscal years.
- The driving force behind this significant growth could be attributed to a significant surge in coal production in February 2024. Production during the month reached 96.60 million tonnes. This represents an increase of 11.83% compared to the same period of the previous year.
- After Mr. Manish Desai, who was the Principal Director of Press Information Office, retired yesterday, Mrs. Shaibali B. Sharan today took charge as Principal Director of Press Information Office. Ms Sharan is a 1990 batch Indian Information Service Officer.
- In a distinguished career spanning three decades, he held the responsibilities of Press Information Office Officer for Ministries like Finance, Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Broadcasting, mostly handling media publicity work. He has also served as the spokesperson of the Election Commission of India.
