NIT Puducherry has introduced a new app called “Karai Kavalan”
- The launch of a new app called “Karai Kavalan” developed by Mr. Vikram and Mr. Priyadarshan, students of National Institute of Technology, Puducherry, Karaikal, was held at Kira Auditorium located in the college campus.
- This tool is designed keeping in mind the upcoming elections. Citizens of Karaikal can report any misbehavior anonymously to their nearest police station immediately with photo through this app. Also, the reporter can view the status of the reported case in real-time on the app.
- Alex Ellis, the current ambassador to the UK, is to be transferred to another government post. Following this, Lindy Cameron will take over as ambassador to India this month. Lindy Cameron, who served as the Director General of the UK Northern Ireland Office, is currently serving as the Chief Executive of the UK National Cyber Security Agency.
- Industrial Production Index estimates are released on the 12th of each month (or the previous business day if the 12th is a holiday). These are compiled and published with data received from source agencies.
- The index estimate for the month of February, 2024 was released today. According to this, India's industrial production index for February grew by 5.7%. For February 2024, the flash estimate for the Industrial Production Index stands at 147.2.
- Industrial production indices for mining, manufacturing and power sectors for February 2024 stood at 139.6, 144.5 and 187.1 respectively.
- The National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Planning, has released All India Consumer Price Index and Rural, Urban and Composite Consumer Food Price Index (Provisional) for March 2024. Indexes for All India and All States / Union Territories are also published.
- Price data for selected 1114 urban markets and 1181 villages covering all States / Union Territories is collected on a weekly basis on a field basis by the Field Operations Unit of NSO.
- For March 2024, All-India Retail Inflation on general indices eased to 4.85 percent. It was 5.66 percent in March last year.
