Chief Minister M. K. Stalin launched the HBV vaccination program
  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the HBV vaccination program at Adyar Cancer Institute's Cancer Prevention Test Center in Villupuram Government Hospital campus.

Naval Commanders First Conference 2024
  • The first conference of the year was held from 05th to 08th March 2024 in the bi-annual Naval Commanders Conference. Important maritime security issues were discussed in this conference.
  • The inaugural session of the conference was held aboard the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. A series of events were held in New Delhi, live and via video, on March 07 and 08. 
  • The inaugural session was chaired by Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh and was attended by Commanders of the Triforces, Defense Secretary and other senior Defense Ministry officials and Navy officers.
  • Key activities, logistics, defense infrastructure etc. were discussed at the events held in New Delhi on 07-08 March 2024. Also, plans to address current and future challenges in the maritime domain were examined.

An MoU was signed between the two institutions in New Delhi for setting up the Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences at AIIMS, New Delhi

Under the direction of Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has set up the Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPIMS) to provide world-class healthcare services to Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel, their dependents and pensioners. ) has formulated a visionary plan.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) was signed yesterday (08-03-2024) between CAPFIMS and AIIMS New Delhi to host the Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPFIMS) at AIIMS New Delhi. 
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs will provide AIIMS with funds for procurement of medical equipment and other supplies, ongoing expenses for operation and maintenance of the premises. 
  • The Union Cabinet has approved an allocation of Rs 2,207.50 crore to set up the Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences at the AIIMS hospital campus in New Delhi.
  • This cooperation will improve the health infrastructure of the country and provide opportunities to medical graduates and specialists to work in the medical wing of the Central Armed Police Forces. 
  • Moreover, it will also create huge employment opportunity as 4354 posts will be created for implementation of AIIMS – CAPFIMS campus.
Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities MoU with Indian Electronics Industry Skills Council
  • In a major move to promote empowerment and skill development of persons with disabilities, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has signed an MoU with the Electronics Sector Skill Council of India.
  • This MoU chaired by Mr. Rajesh Agarwal was executed on 08.03.2024 with the aim of empowering differently abled persons with necessary skills for various jobs in electronics sector.
  • This historic MoU represents a joint effort to develop human resources through vocational training as per the needs of the industry. By leveraging ESSCI's expertise, the initiative aims to create pathways to sustainable livelihoods and develop a globally competitive workforce.
  • Under the terms of the MoU, ESSCI undertakes to provide vocational training to persons with disabilities as per National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVED) curriculum standards. 
  • Additionally, it will facilitate engagement with potential employers and industry structures to ensure seamless employment opportunities for trainees. Essentially, employment guarantees a monthly salary that complies with the Minimum Wage Act and industry norms.
  • It will also uphold its commitment to post-employment support. Ensures continued success and integration of PWDs into the workforce by providing counseling and monitoring services for a minimum of three months following hire.
  • This collaboration marks a significant step towards inclusion and economic empowerment, reaffirming the commitment of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and ESSC to create an enabling environment for persons with disabilities to thrive in the electronics sector.
Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities signs MoU with Signable Communications to assist differently abled persons with speech and hearing impairment
  • The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Signable Communications as a significant step towards increasing support for persons with disabilities.
  • This MoU will make a significant step forward in improving support for people with speech and hearing impairments. The MoU aims to improve communication and accessibility for visually and hearing-impaired persons.
  • Currently, different departments use different helpline numbers. Hence it is important to establish a centrally maintained, user friendly short code helpline number.
  • A national helpline for persons with disabilities, short code 14456, was launched on January 8, 2024 at the International Purple Festival in Goa.
  • Signable Communications will provide ISL interpreters through the Collaborative Social Responsibility Fund to assist people with speech and hearing impairments. This helpline is operational on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
