Union Minister Mr. Sarbananda Sona dedicated the first made in India ASTDS tug to the country
  • Union Minister for Shipping Mr. Sarbananda Sonawal video inaugurated the tug named 'Ocean Grace' and Mobile Medical Center (MMU) at Paradeep Port. Kochi Shipyard is the first ASTDS tugboat built in India by Ocean Grace. 
  • The Mobile Medical Center (MMU) is a service undertaken as part of Paradip Port's Corporate Social Responsibility programme. This tugboat initiative reflects the self-reliance objective of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Defense Minister Mr Rajnath Singh launches Defconnect 2024 to promote homeland security innovation
  • To promote indigenous innovation and enhance collaborations to address emerging security challenges, the highly specialized Defense Innovation Organization (iDEX-DIO) under the Department of Defense Productivity has organized Defconnect 2024 at the Maneksha Center in New Delhi tomorrow (March 04, 2024). Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the programme.
  • DefConnect 2024 brings together key stakeholders including representatives from the armed forces, defense industry professionals, industry, academics and policy makers. This event aims to facilitate collaboration. 
  • It will be a platform for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the defense sector. A large number of innovators and investors from India's leading industries in the defense sector are participating in the event.
  • So far, iDEX has conducted 10 rounds of Defense India Start-up Challenge (DISC) and 11 rounds of Open Challenge (OC).
Shebaz Sharif elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second term
  • The general election was held on February 8th for the total of 336 constituencies in Pakistan. In this situation, the National Assembly, known as the Lower House of the Parliament of Pakistan, met today to elect the new Prime Minister. 
  • Shebaz Sharif (72) of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) party has been elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second time after receiving the majority of votes.
  • Shebaz Sharif, the unanimous candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP), has won by securing 201 votes in the total 336-member house, with 169 votes needed for a majority.
