TRAI has issued recommendations on 'SIM Usage'
- The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issued recommendations on 'Embedded SIM usage for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications'. The Department of Telecommunications, vide letter dated 09.11.2021, has sought recommendations under the TRAI Act, 1997 regarding the use of embedded SIM for (M2M) communications.
- In this regard, TRAI has issued a consultation paper on 'Embedded SIM for M2M Communications' on 25.07.2022 to solicit comments / counter comments from stakeholders. 15 respondents submitted their comments.
- An open discussion on the advisory report was held virtually on 14.12.2022. Based on the comments/inputs received from stakeholders, detailed discussions on the matter and its own analysis, TRAI has finalized its recommendations.
- The Palestinian group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year. The next day, Israel immediately launched a war in the Gaza Strip of Palestine and is still attacking. So far, more than 32,226 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. In addition, more than 74,518 people have been injured.
- Although many countries of the world opposed Israel in this war, the United States, which initially sent weapons to Israel, at one point did not say anything directly against Israel, but simply called for a ceasefire.
- Now, as an extension, it has abstained from voting on the Gaza ceasefire resolution brought to the UN Security Council. A Gaza cease-fire resolution passed the UN for the first time as the US refrained from using its veto power.
- In this referendum held yesterday, 14 countries, including Russia and China, voted in favor of the cease-fire resolution.
